JigJam, a multi-award-winning quartet from the heart of the midlands in Ireland, will perform at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 27 at the Kent-Meridian Performing Arts Center, 10020 SE 256th St.

Blending the best of traditional Irish music with bluegrass and Americana in a new genre that has been branded as ‘iGrass’, their onstage energy along with their virtuosic musical ability has captivated audiences throughout the world, according to a city of Kent website posting about the annual Spotlight Series. All four members of JigJam grew up immersed in Irish traditional music and culture. They interchange between banjos, guitars, fiddles, mandolins, and double bass onstage, creating an experience which is pleasing to both the eye and the ear.

Tickets are $26 general, $24 senior and $15 youth. Buy tickets online at kentwa.gov; call 253-856-5051, Monday through Saturday to charge a Visa or Mastercard; or go to the Kent Commons, 525 Fourth Ave. N., Monday through Saturday. Phone and walk-in hours are Monday through Thursday 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.

The concert is sponsored by Pete and Pat Curran through the Kent Parks Foundation and Edward Jones and co-sponsored by Judy Woods.
