Nearly 50 local authors and artists will be featured from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 14 for the first Kent Book & Art Festival, hosted by Kent Lutheran Church, 336 Second Ave. S.
Attendees can expect to find a wide variety of books and art at this free event, according to a Jan. 28 Kent Lutheran media release. Authors will display and sell books in many genres including mystery, thrillers, romance, science fiction, fantasy, memoir, children’s books and non-fiction.
Many of the authors will read from their works in 10-minute increments all day long. Local artists working in media such as acrylic, watercolor, mixed media, collage, fabric art, pottery and photography, will have their original works, prints and cards for sale.
Lunch and snacks by donation, door prizes and kids’ activities will also be available at this family friendly event.
“This is going to be a fantastic cultural experience for Kent,” said event organizer Larry Lehnerz, Kent-based author. “Everyone is excited. Our presenters are primarily independent authors and artists from Kent and nearby communities, eager to connect with readers and art lovers.”
