Kent-based Allegro Performing Arts Academy will present its annual sensory-friendly holiday performance at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 at Auburn Performing Arts Center, 702 Fourth St. NE.
“Winter at the Beach,” is an inclusive show specially adapted to meet the needs of audience members with sensory sensitivities, neurodiverse profiles, developmental or cognitive disabilities, and their families. Modifications will include lower sound levels in the audience, slightly raised house lights, a “shush-free” audience environment, and a calming lounge area in the lobby for breaks.
The show combines dance, song and storytelling in a festive beach-themed holiday tale, offering a vibrant but accessible live-performance experience, according to an Allegro press release.
“We believe performing arts should be accessible to all families,” said Tonya M.Warren, owner and artistic director of Allegro. “This performance offers the joy of live theatre in a safe, supportive environment.”
Tickets are available by registration at a minimum donation of $10.
Regular performances of “Winter at the Beach” are set for 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 20 and 1:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 21 at Auburn Performing Arts Center.
