Rodeo, Scotty McCreery and Jamey Johnson bring party to Washington State Fair on Sept. 6-9

The first Wrangler Pro Rodeo Tour Finale presented by Justin Boots performance comes to the Washington State Fair on Sept. 6-9.

The party continues when country music’s Scotty McCreery and Jamey Johnson take the Grandstand Stage on Sept. 8 and 9.

The rodeo kicks off Thursday night, Sept. 6, followed the next day by the annual Washington State Fair Western Rodeo Parade and Cattle Drive on Sept. 7 at 10 a.m., with free gate admission to the fair from 10 a.m. to noon, with a school supply donation to Communities In Schools.

The Justin Boots Rodeo finales continue on Friday and Saturday evenings, each followed by a grandstand concert. McCreery takes the stage on Friday, Sept. 7, and Johnson performs on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Tickets go on sale to the general public at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 10. Prices are listed in the chart below and include fair gate admission. Tickets will be available online or by phone at 888-559-FAIR (3247) daily, 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased in person at the fair’s box office, 9th Avenue Southwest and Meridian Street on most Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Online and phone purchases are subject to standard processing fees. Tickets purchased on site will be charged a $3 per ticket service fee.

Scotty McCreery

After winning Season Ten of American Idol in 2011, McCreery made history when he became the youngest male artist of any genre, and the first country music artist ever, to have his debut album enter at No. 1 on the Billboard Top 200 chart. Clear as Day was certified platinum for sales of one million units in just 13 weeks and became the best-selling solo album released by a country artist in 2011. The singles “I Love You This Big” and “The Trouble with Girls” were also certified Platinum. He won the New Artist of the Year award at both the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards and the American Country Awards, and also received the CMT Award for Breakthrough Video of the Year for “The Trouble with Girls.”

Now, with his third album (plus a chart-topping Christmas record), the young star takes a huge creative step forward. He co-wrote all 11 songs on Seasons Change, working with some of the finest songwriters in Nashville to express a wide range of emotions and musical styles. And after a lengthy legal struggle that kept him on the sidelines for several years, McCreery placed a bold bet with his career that has paid off with a new label and a reinvigorated attitude.

Jamey Johnson

Eleven-time Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Jamey Johnson is “one of the greatest country singers of our time,” according to the Washington Post. He is one of only a few people in the history of country music to win two Song of the Year Awards from both the CMA and ACMs.

In 2012, the Alabama native released his fifth studio album, a tribute project to late songwriter Hank Cochran. The Grammy-nominated Living for a Song: A Tribute to Hank Cochran paired him with Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss, Emmylou Harris, Ray Price, Elvis Costello, George Strait, Vince Gill and Merle Haggard. In 2013, the Nashville Scene’s 13th annual Country Music Critics’ Poll named it the year’s best album. (Two years earlier, the same poll named Johnson’s The Guitar Song as the year’s best album, and Johnson himself as best male vocalist, best songwriter and artist of the year.)
