Saxophonist Motamedy headlines Kent Music & Art Showcase on June 23

Jazz saxophonist Darren Motamedy, 1950s and 60s band Wally and the Beaves and jazz pianist Richard Dean will perform at the ninth annual Music & Art Showcase on Thursday, June 23.

Jazz saxophonist Darren Motamedy will perform at 7 p.m. on Thursday

Jazz saxophonist Darren Motamedy, 1950s and 60s band Wally and the Beaves and jazz pianist Richard Dean will perform at the ninth annual Music & Art Showcase on Thursday, June 23 at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.

The free event runs from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Motamedy will take the outdoor stage from 7-8 p.m. following Wally and the Beaves performance from 5:15-6:15 p.m. Dean will play two mini-concerts indoors on a baby grand from 4:30 to 5:15 p.m. and again from 6:15-7 p.m.

Free desserts will be served from 6:15-7 p.m. Discounted dinners will be available by Mitzel’s American Kitchen mobile food truck. Several event co-sponsors will offer vendor information booths.

Seating is first-come, first-served. Families are encouraged to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas in case it rains.
