Since launching the Community Coffee Chats initiative, Valley Cities Behavioral Health Care has received overwhelmingly positive feedback from the communities it serves.
“We’ve welcomed local politicians, first responders, business owners and other community leaders – all eager to learn how they can get involved and support the various societal challenges we’ve addressed,” said Charles Bordy, donor relations specialist at Valley Cities.
Valley Cities is excited to announce the first Community Coffee Chat of 2025, taking place May 21 in Kent at the Multi Service Center, located at 4437 Russell Rd Suite 200, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. The event will focus on “Responding to the Fentanyl Crisis” and highlight Valley Cities’ role in supporting communities across King County.
As part of the State Opioid Response Grant Program, Valley Cities provides low-barrier programs and services that meet clients where they are in their recovery journey.
“We’re always exploring new ways to better support individuals experiencing substance use disorders and to expand the services and programs we offer,” said Rose M. Baldridge, BA, NCAC II, SUDP, director of substance use disorder services. “We were recently accepted into a contingency management plan that provides support for individuals struggling with stimulant use. This is a major step forward, as there are currently no medications approved to treat methamphetamine use.”
The new program runs for 12 weeks and is incentive-based, with incentives tailored to the needs of each participant.
In addition to this new initiative, Valley Cities offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient programs, Medication-Assisted Treatment and Community Health (MATCH) services, and mental health support for adults, youth and families.
The upcoming Community Coffee Chat in Kent offers an opportunity for local leaders to hear from Valley Cities experts in mental health and substance use disorders. Attendees will have a chance to ask questions and engage in an open discussion about how to better support individuals facing these challenges in their communities.
