Congressman Dave Reichert was admitted to George Washington University Hospital in Washington, D.C., Wednesday after feeling ill, according to his congressional office.
Reichert of Auburn represents the Eighth Congressional District in southeast King County.
“Following an evaluation, doctors performed a procedure to address a chronic subdural hematoma that was likely the result of a minor head injury,” according to the press release. “The procedure was successful, and he is expected to make a full and complete recovery.
Reichert is resting comfortably and will be discharged in a few days, but doctors will not allow him to leave for any votes.”
The Congressman may be down but not out – his office contacted the House to let his colleagues know he couldn’t vote, but that he was submitting, for the record, a reiteration of his no vote on the health-care bill. The House was to vote again Thursday on a revised version of the controversial measure.
Once he’s released from the hospital, the Congressman is returning home. He’ll go back to work after consulting with his doctors.
