I-5 HOV lane southbound to close overnight May 17-20 in Kent

Sound Transit’s contractors will be closing down the Interstate 5 southbound HOV lane between Kent Des Moines Road and South 272nd Street on the nights of May 17-20.

The closure will be from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.

Cranes and other heavy equipment will be used. The work is part of the Federal Way Link extension project, building light rail from SeaTac to Federal Way, which is expected to open in 2024.

All project construction work is done under stringent COVID-19 health and safety guidelines.

Sound Transit also had closures earlier this month along I-5 southbound for the project.
