John Boyd easily leads the Kent City Council Position No. 3 Aug. 1 primary race for one of the two spots on the Nov. 7 ballot.

Kelly Wiggans-Crawford and Jamie Lee are in a tight clash for the second spot.

Boyd has 36.37% (3,748 votes), according to King County Election results updated Wednesday, Aug. 2. Wiggans-Crawford is second with 22.78% (2,347 votes) followed closely by Lee with 20.63% (2,126 votes). Wiggans-Crawford extended her lead over Lee to 221 votes after leading by 197 following the intitial results on Aug. 1.

Cody T. Clark ranks fourth with 10.29% (1,060 votes) while Michael Ferguson is last among the five candidates with 9.48% (977 votes).

King County Elections will update results each weekday until the count is certified on Aug. 15.

The two candidates with the most votes will clash on the November general election ballot. The winner will replace Les Thomas, who decided not to seek reelection as he completes his 20th year on the council.

Boyd is a retired lead quality inspector from Boeing, Wiggans-Crawford is a certified paralegal and Lee owns All Aglow Spa in downtown Kent. Clark is a construction inspector for the city of SeaTac and Ferguson is a financial manager at Interior Logic Group.

According to the state Public Disclosure Commission website on Aug. 1, Boyd has raised $6,828, with the largest contributions $500 from the Washington State Democrats and $500 from the 47th District Democrats. He has spent $7,217, with the highest expenses $1,000 for 5,000 campaign handouts and $1,000 f0r management and consulting services.

Clark has $5,373 of in-kind contributions to his own campaign. He has spent $5,373, including $3,777 on mailings and postcards.

Wiggans-Crawford raised $4,800, with the largest contributions $1,200 from Seattle attorney Sean Flynn (she works as a paralegal for Flynn) and $1,200 from Rental Housing Association of Washington. She has spent $1,469, with the highest item $477 for campaign handouts.

Lee has raised $450 and Ferguson’s report showed he has raised no money.

Kelly Wiggans-Crawford: 2,347 votes, 22.78%

Jamie Lee: 2,126 votes, 20.63%

Cody T. Clark: 1,060 votes, 10.29%

Michael Ferguson: 977 votes, 9.48%

Write-in: 47 votes, 0.46%
