The Statewide Animal Shelter Open House Event is Oct. 5.

Take a field trip to your own community animal shelter on Saturday, Oct. 5 during Pawsitive Alliance’s second annual Statewide Shelter Open House Event.

The organization is working with animal shelters throughout the state to promote and enhance their adopter, donor and volunteer bases — and to raise awareness of the good work they do.

Regional Animal Services of King County in Kent and the Auburn Valley Humane Society are among 16 state animal shelters that will be opening up their doors to host an open house and bring community members in as honored guests.

Approximately 40,000 to 60,000 kitties, puppies, cats and dogs are euthanized each year in the state due to lack of space. Pawsitive Alliance is working to bring awareness to the needs of local shelters and their homeless animals.
