A 26-year-old Kent man fatally shot Oct. 26 at an apartment complex in Kent has been identified as Yik Thomas Khan.
Khan died of a gunshot wound of head and neck, according to the Oct. 29 report by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which ruled his death a homicide.
Kent Police officers responded at about 6:13 p.m. Oct. 26 to 23310 61st Ave. S. after calls to 911 about a shooting and a man lying in the apartment complex parking lot.
Officers and medics arrived and found Khan unresponsive, according to police. He died at the scene. Officers found a loaded 9mm gun near Khan, which was later determined to be registered to Khan.
About 40 minutes after police arrived at the apartment complex, they were notified by dispatch that two patients had arrived at Valley Medical Center in Renton with gunshot wounds, according to police. Detectives are trying to determine if the two events are related. Both gunshot victims at the hospital are 23 years old. Their medical condition is unknown.

This marks the seventh homicide in 2025 in the city, according to police.
