Kent Police Blotter: Dec. 30 to Jan. 11

Incidents include eluding, stolen vehicles

A sampling of Kent Police incidents Dec. 30 to Jan. 11:

Dec. 30

Lake Meridian disturbance: Officers responded to a report of a disturbance involving possible weapons at Lake Meridian Park, 14800 SE 272nd St. Two reporting parties observed two groups who then left the area in separate vehicles. Officers located one of the vehicles and attempted to stop it. The vehicle was later involved in a collision with an unrelated vehicle stopped near South 240th Street. Occupants from both vehicles were evaluated, with two individuals transported to local hospitals for treatment. The scene was turned over to traffic investigators.

Burglary assist: Officers assisted the Auburn Police Department with locating two burglary suspects. Officers responded to a residence in Kent where one suspect was observed outside. The individual fled on foot but was later taken into custody following a brief pursuit.

Jan. 1

WinCo purse theft: Officers responded to a theft reported at WinCo Foods, 21100 91st Pl. S. A reporting party stated their purse was taken while groceries were being loaded into a vehicle. The suspect left the area in a vehicle.

Damaged utility lines: 8:57 p.m., officers responded to the 800 block of West Valley Highway after a report of damaged utility lines. An employee reported that a cord had been cut, though no property was taken.

Weapons violation: Officers responded to a reported disturbance at the Buena Casa Apartments, 25701 27th Pl. S. A subject matching the initial description was contacted and detained. During the contact, officers located a concealed firearm. The subject was later arrested for a weapons-related violation unrelated to the original call.

Jan. 6

Eluding: Officers observed a vehicle stopped in the roadway near Meeker Street and Naden Avenue under suspicious circumstances. When officers attempted to stop the vehicle, it briefly fled before coming to rest due to the roadway conditions. The driver was taken into custody for outstanding warrant and for eluding. The vehicle was seized.

Stolen vehicle: Officers attempted to stop a vehicle reported as being stolen following a residential burglary. The vehicle became disabled, and multiple juvenile occupants fled on foot. With the assistance of aerial and canine resources, two juveniles were located and taken into custody.

Jan. 10

Court order violation: Officers assisted the Federal Way Police Department with locating a suspect wanted for a court order violation. Officers confirmed the suspect was inside a residence and established containment. The individual later exited voluntarily and was taken into custody without incident.

Jan. 11

Stolen vehicle: Officers responded to a report of a vehicle being taken from a victim in the Alba Gardens Apartments (formerly known as Phoenix Court Apartments) area of 23913 111th Pl. SE. The suspects left the area in the victim’s vehicle, which was not located despite an area search.
