The communications and public affairs team of the Kent School District recently won three awards from the Maryland-based National School Public Relations Association.
The district won two Excellence awards and one Merit award in the School Communication Awards division of the Publications and Digital Media category.
“These accolades represent the highest levels of achievement in school communications and reflect the team’s outstanding commitment to transparency, community engagement, and celebrating student and staff growth and success across the district,” according to a July 1 district press release.
Kent won an Award of Excellence in the Magazine category for its KSD Connected Community Magazine, which is mailed to over 65,000 homes. Kent was one of 32 national Award of Excellence winners in the category
Kent also won an Award of Excellence in the Video, produced in-house category, for its OneCommunity video. Kent was one of about 150 Award of Excellence winners.
The magazine and video were selected for their compelling storytelling, visual impact, and ability to unite and inform a diverse audience, according to the district.
Kent’s third honor was an Award of Merit in the Website category for its district and school website. Kent was one of 24 Merit award winners.
“These awards are a testament to the creativity, professionalism, and dedication of our communications team,” Superintendent Israel Vela said. “Their work helps build trust across our community. Whether it’s crisis response, recognition, or daily communication, their impact is felt throughout the district.”
The National School Public Relations Association uses experienced, award-winning professionals to evaluate entries, according to its website. Judges have no pre-set limit on the number of awards that may be given in each category. They may also opt to issue no awards in a category if no entries are deemed worthy of recognition.
