Mill Creek students who were regional History Day winners are

Students from the Kent School District made an impressive showing March 26 at the regional level of the Washington State History Day contest at Green River Community College in Auburn.

The top three winners in each of the contest’s categories are now going on to compete at the state contest, which takes place April 25 at GRCC.

The Kent students, part of the South Puget Sound region, will go up against students from six other regions across the state, for the chance to go to the national contest June 13-18 in Maryland. Listed by their schools, the top Kent students at regionals are:

Kent Phoenix Academy

Fourth place, Jonathon Corbeil, Amber Cleveland, Ravinder Singh, group documentary 3: “The Wright Brothers Changing the World One Flight at a Time”

Second place, Haylie Lugo, Trevor Cronn, Julia De Roshia, Aubrianna Moore, group presentation: “Harold Moss A Man With a Vision of Equal Opportunity for all Citizens of Tacoma”

Kentridge High School

First place, Ryan Mann, paper: “Henry Ford: Putting the World on Wheels”

Third place, Kaitlin Bailey, paper: “Edward Murrow: One Man, One Microphone and One Murrow”

First place, Brian Gibbon, Cory Davis, group documentary 1: “Pope Urban II”

Third place, Amanda Earls Beltran, individual documentary: “Victoria Woodhull”
