A 21-year-old Kent woman was injured after a car she was a passenger in crashed at about 12:05 a.m. Friday in the Mount Baker Tunnel on Interstate 90 in Seattle.

The Kent woman and a 20-year-old Seattle woman were transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, according to a Washington State Patrol media release.

The Kent woman remained hospitalized in satisfactory condition Friday, according to a Harborview spokeswoman. The Seattle woman was treated and released at the hospital.

A 2000 Chevrolet Impala was headed eastbound on I-90 in the tunnel when the driver lost control, struck the left wall, crossed all lanes of traffic and hit the right wall and then came to a stop in the lane two.

The male driver left the scene on foot and has not been located. The car had four passengers, including a 17-year-old Seattle girl and a 17-year-old Burien girl who were not injured.

The cause of the accident remained under investigation. The car was totaled.

It was unknown if alcohol or drugs were involved in the crash, according to the State Patrol.
