A 34-year-old Seattle man faces a second-degree kidnapping charge in connection with luring a 12-year-old Kent school girl he met through Facebook.

King County prosecutors also charged Hugo Alonso-Martinez with communication with a minor for immoral purposes for reportedly agreeing to meet with a 14-year-old girl, who was a King County Sheriff’s Office detective posing as the girl. He is scheduled to be arraigned on Thursday, March 12 in King County Superior Court.

Alonso-Martinez allegedly kidnapped the 12-year-old girl on Jan. 30 from Meeker Middle School in the Kent School District when he picked up the girl after school and drove her to Bremerton, according to charging papers.

Shortly after school was out, the student’s mother reported her missing. Bremerton Police found the girl about five hours later in Bremerton at a friend’s house. She was treated at a local hospital for possible sexual assault.

Alonso-Martinez reportedly sent the girl text messages that included him telling her she was his “princess” and his “babe.” He promised to take care of her. They met a few months earlier on social media.

The girl’s mother checked her daughter’s Facebook account and discovered she had been communicating with a man known as Diego. Detectives later determined Diego to be Alonso-Martinez.

Surveillance video from Meeker Middle School on Jan. 30 showed a silver Dodge van pulling into the parking lot and a Hispanic man picking up the girl before leaving the school.

The girl told detectives Alonso-Martinez bought her snacks and gave her money during the van ride.

Alonso-Martinez admitted to detectives that he picked up the girl from the school. He said he gave her $20 to buy snacks for the ride and another $40 when he dropped her off in Bremerton. He denied any sexual contact with the girl.

Detectives arrested Alonso-Martinez on Feb. 24 after he agreed to meet a detective who posed online as a girl, 14. The man promised to give the girl a phone and computer if she met him at a Renton library. Deputies arrested Alonso-Martinez when he showed up at the library.

Alonso-Martinez remained in custody this week at the county jail in Seattle with bail set at $200,000.
