Two Washington State Patrol troopers in unmarked vehicles stopped 30 drivers during a three-hour emphasis on aggressive driving Sunday along northbound and southbound Interstate 5 near Boeing Field in Seattle.
The 30 stops included 27 aggressive drivers, one drug arrest and two suspended drivers, according to a State Patrol media release.
Of the violators that were stopped, 14 included speed violations that were over 80 mph including two vehicles driving in excess of 100 mph.
Aggressive driving is the commission of two or more moving violations that is likely to endanger other persons or property, or any single intentional violation that requires a defensive reaction of another driver.
The State Patrol’s Aggressive Driving Apprehension Team program is a proactive effort to locate and arrest those drivers who drive aggressively. The program uses unmarked/unconventional police vehicles equipped with mobile video cameras to detect and apprehend aggressive drivers.
