Voters are narrowing two Kent School Board races from three candidates to two in the Aug. 5 primary.

For director of District No. 4, Teresa Gregory leads with 41.5% (6,099 votes) followed by Carolyn Wilsie-Kendall with 32.8% (4,814 votes) and Zac Fister with 25% (3,675 votes), according to results released Tuesday, Aug. 5 by King County Elections.

Gregory was appointed earlier this year by the board to the District No. 4 seat to replace Awale Farah after he resigned.

For director of District No. 5, Laura Williams leads with 48.6% (7,183 votes) followed by Jane Smith with 31.3% (4,627 votes) and Laura Jensen with 19.4% (2,863 votes).

Tim Clark currently holds the District No. 5 position but decided not to seek reelection.

The two candidates with the most votes in each race advance to the Nov. 4 general election. King County Elections will release results each weekday and certify the election Aug. 19.

Williams has raised $10,311 and spent $4,607, according to the state Public Disclosure Commission website on Aug. 5. Jensen was the only other school board candidate who had raised any significant amount of money, with $2,780 raised and $2,153 spent.
