WSDOT wants input about changes in Kent along State Route 99

Online survey available through Nov. 4 about proposed designs for sidewalks, bike lanes and other features

The Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) is hosting an online open house to get feedback from residents about bicycle and pedestrian improvements planned for Pacific Highway South (State Route 99) in Kent on the West Hill between South 272nd Street and Kent Des Moines Road (SR 516).

The project will include repaving the highway and upgrading Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) sidewalk curb ramps to meet current accessibility standards.

The multilingual online open house and survey goes through Tuesday, Nov. 4, to collect community input about current travel experiences, accessibility needs along this corridor, and proposed designs for sidewalks, bike lanes and other features.

This online open house is available 24/7 during the survey period for residents to review project details and complete a brief survey at their convenience. Input will help shape decisions about bicycle and pedestrian improvements along this section of SR 99. The survey takes about 10 minutes to complete, and is available in English, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

Sound Transit plans to open a new Kent Des Moines light rail station Dec. 6, just south of Kent Des Moines Road along Pacific Highway South, as part of the 7.8-mile extension to Federal Way from SeaTac.

The survey is available at engage.wsdot.wa.gov/sr-99-kent.
