Customers line up around the building to get meals at California-based chain

Popular fast food chain Dave’s Hot Chicken held a grand opening Feb. 6 for its new location in Federal Way.

Customers have been lining up around the building at 1701 S. Commons, Suite M7G, at the Commons Mall.

Headquartered in Pasadena, California, the restaurant serves Nashville-style hot chicken tenders and sliders. Customers can pick from a range of seven spice levels and need to sign a waiver in order to try the “reaper” level.

The rapidly growing chain was acquired in 2025 by the private equity firm Roark Capital Group, which has a portfolio that includes multiple restaurant brands.

Washington locations include Seattle, Redmond, Vancouver and Spokane.
