Man, 20, fatally shot at Federal Way apartment complex

Officers report that there was an argument between two groups, leading to a May 3 shooting.

The first of two homicides on Saturday, May 3 in Federal Way is still under investigation, and not much about what happened is known yet, according to the Federal Way Police Department.

According to FWPD Cmdr. Kyle Buchanan, the department received a call at 4:22 p.m. about a shooting at Uptown Square Apartments, 1066 S. 320th St. Buchanan said there was an argument between two groups of people that led to one subject being shot. The subject ultimately died.

Buchanan said the subject who died was a 20-year-old man with a Seattle address. He said there are no persons of interest yet.

This homicide was the first of two on May 3. There was a second homicide that occurred at 11:04 p.m. at the Cove Apartment Homes, 33131 First Ave. SW. Buchanan said these two homicides are not related, and the department does not believe there is any threat to the public.

Buchanan said the Uptown Square Apartments homicide is still under investigation. He said not as much is known about the Uptown Square Apartments murder as the Cove Apartment Homes murder.

Buchanan said if anyone has information about the Uptown Square Apartment homicide, they should call the department at 253-835-6787.
