State Patrol seeks witnesses to I-5 shooting near Southcenter

Several bullets fired at driver from passenger in nearby car; nobody hurt

The Washington State Patrol is seeking witnesses to a drive-by shooting at about 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 20 along northbound Interstate 5 in the Southcenter mall area.

A man called 911 to report he had been shot at, according to a June 21 State Patrol press release. Troopers contacted the man who told them the right front passenger of a vehicle driving recklessly fired several shots at his vehicle.

The suspect vehicle was described as a white 2013 to 2015 Chevrolet Malibu or Impala with black rims and dark tinted windows, according to the State Patrol.

The man described the suspect as a light-skinned Black male with a short Afro and possible 19 to 22 years old. The driver of the vehicle was a Black woman around the same age. There also was another male in the back seat of the vehicle.

The man who called 911 was driving a black 2019 Mercedes S560 sedan. He was not injured. Troopers located several bullet holes and found one bullet in the vehicle.
