The victims left the scene and stopped on Rainier Avenue for help during April 13 incident

A 15-year-old male was killed and another 15-year-old male was injured in a Sunday evening shooting near Bronson Way and Vuemont Place in Renton. Police are now searching for the suspected shooter who fled in a vehicle.

According to Renton Police Department spokesperson Meeghan Black, at around 5:30 p.m. April 13, a suspect in one vehicle shot at another vehicle that was carrying four people, but striking two victims. Black said the driver of the vehicle carrying the injured people attempted to drive them to the hospital, but stopped for help in the 700 block of Rainier Avenue South.

Black said one victim was deceased at the scene, and the other was transported to the hospital. The two others in the vehicle were not injured in the shooting, Black said.

According to Black, the suspect fled in a vehicle. Officers are searching for the suspect, but no one has been arrested yet. Black said most likely charges in this incident are homicide and assault.

Black said this shooting was targeted, and the department does not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

If anyone witnessed the shooting or might have surveillance footage of the incident, they can contact RPD at crimetips@rentonwa.gov.

According to the department, this incident is still an active and ongoing investigation, and more updates will be given as information becomes available.
