DAN SILVESTRI

Dan Silvestri, age 73, died of heart failure on June 30, 2018.

He was a devoted family man and is survived by both his parents Joe and Nadine Silvestri, wife Becky Silvestri, daughter Jennifer Timme (Dave), two grandchildren; Alex and Lexie, brother Deva (Lanny) Silvestri (Billie), sister Cheryl Beck (Gerry), niece Angie Casper (Steve), their son Dean, and many Kombol and Silvestri cousins.

Dan was a lifelong resident of Kent, WA, and attended the University of Washington studying engineering and business.

As founder of Recreational Distribution Systems with his brother (1964) and later Frosty Wholesale, Dan co-created the iconic ice cream vending scooters. His fleet of 40 classic white and rainbow striped 3-wheeled Cushman scooters graced the parks and streets of King and Pierce counties for over 40 years, bringing summertime joys to countless patrons both young and old, and provided a great job experience to many high school and college students among others. They had depots in Portland, OR and Spokane, WA for a time.

Dan served honorably in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War, was a private pilot, a member of the West Valley Community Church and the Sons of Italy-Black Diamond.

He was a dedicated, proud, and active member of the Kent Lions Club, earning many awards including the “Melvin Jones” award. He helped with their projects until his death.

In his retirement, Dan had a part time job at the Manheim Seattle Auto Auction, working one or two days a week which he truly enjoyed.

Dan had a passion for family, cars, history, and an interest in everything. He was an avid reader. He had considerable knowledge about many things which he willingly shared with others.

Dan was a truly memorable and unique person, was loved, and will be missed. Services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery 18600 SE 240th St, Kent, WA 98042 Thursday, July 19, 2018 (1:30) followed by a reception (2:30) at Kent Historical Museum, 855 E Smith St, Kent, WA 98030.
