The Everett Silvertips defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 3-0 Saturday night at ShoWare Center. This was the last preseason game for both teams.

The T-Birds will open the 2009-10 Western Hockey League regular season with back-to-back home games against the Silvertips on Friday, September 18, at 7:35 p.m. and the Portland Winterhawks on Saturday, September 19, at 7:05 p.m. Both games are at ShoWare Center in Kent.

T-Birds single game tickets for the 2009-10 season are available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The ShoWare Center Box Office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.

Everett took a 1-0 lead at 17:41 of the first period on a goal by Shane Harper. Ryan Murray and Zack Dailey had the assists.

Everett outshot Seattle 14-13 in the first period.

The Silvertips took a 2-0 lead on a power-play goal by Cory Tyrell at 2:20 of the second period. Alex Theriau and Paul Sohor had assists on the goal.

Harper put the Tips in front 3-0 with an unassisted power-play goal at 11:25 of the second.

The Tips led 28-19 in total shots after outshooting the T-Birds 14-6 in the second period.

Seattle goalie Calvin Pickard made 36 saves on 39 shots.

Everett goalie Kent Simpson stopped 28 shots to get the shutout.

Defenseman Brenden Dillon and right wing Sena Acolatse returned to the T-Birds lineup against Everett. Dillon returned from the training camp of the Pittsburgh Penguins while Acolatse returned from the training camp of the Phoenix Coyotes.

T-Birds season tickets are currently on sale. Season tickets can be purchased by calling the T-Birds office at 253-239-7825.
