The sentencing date for Jorge Lizarraga, the man convicted of murdering Devin Topps, has been continued to 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 7.

Lizarraga is scheduled to go before King County Superior Court Judge Patrick Oishi in Courtroom W-764 at the King County Courthouse in Seattle. He had been scheduled for sentencing on Friday, Jan. 31.

Lizarraga faces a sentence range of 29 to 38 years, according to the King County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.

A jury convicted Lizarraga in December of the murder of Topps, 18, in October 2010 in Kent. The jury convicted Lizarraga, 23, of second-degree murder with a firearm enhancement as well as two counts of violation of the uniform firearms act (for being a convicted felon in possession of firearms), residential burglary, theft of a firearm and possession of a stolen firearm.

Lizarraga shot and killed Topps during a fight after a 2010 Halloween party.
