The League of Education Voters and Excel Public Charter Schools co-host a free educational event, “In pursuit of educational equity,” Saturday, Oct. 11, from 1-3 p.m. at the Kent Public Library, 212 2nd Ave. N.

It is free and open to the public.

Legislators and candidates for the 47th legislative district will discuss their vision for making public education funding more equitable.

Attendees include:

• Sen. Joe Fain (R-Auburn), Senate majority floor leader

• Rep. Pat Sullivan (D-Covington), House majority leader

• Rep. Mark Hargrove (R-Covington)

• Chris Barringer (D-Covington), chief of staff, King County Sheriff (candidate for the House of Representatives)

Unlike a traditional town hall meeting, candidates will have time for small-group conversations with members of the community instead of sharing the floor; rather, they will have time to address audience questions independently.
