Rainier Youth Choirs Summer Choir Camp set for Aug. 17-20

Rainier Youth Choirs host a “Jungle Cruise” Summer Choir Camp on Aug. 17-20 for singers entering grades three through eight at First Evangelical Presbyterian Church on the Kent East Hill.
This is RYC’s fourth annual summer program where campers participate in educational clinics, fun activities, and group rehearsals.
Participants will explore different musical skills such as singing, music reading, movement, rhythms, drama, percussion, crafts and dress-up days then perform for their families and the community during a free evening concert on Aug. 20.
The camp staff is composed of experienced, certified music teachers from area school districts: Brian Hoskins (Renton School District), Brad Wills (Kent SD), Karen Martin (Kent SD), Jackie Day (Tahoma SD), Matt Garcia (Federal Way SD), Leora Schwitters (Kent SD, retired), Karen Fulmer (Sumner SD, retired) and Andrea Sylvester (Renton SD).
Rainier Youth Choirs is an affordable, family-friendly organization with no religious affiliation that offers a choral music education and performance program. Four different age and skill level choirs are available for singers in second through 14th grade. RYC members learn the finest repertoire, music reading skills, music theory, presentation skills, and are offered regular touring opportunities.
Summer Choir Camp is funded in part by the City of Kent Arts Commission.
Third- and fourth-grade camp is 9:30 a.m. to noon for $50 without lunch and fifth- through eighth-grade camp is 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $85 with lunch included. Camp fees cover the entire week, including all clinic materials and a camp T-shirt for all participants.
