Area dive teams pulled a teenager from Lake Wilderness on Tuesday afternoon.

Rescue crews quickly found the boy – who had been swimming with friends on the east side of the lake – in approximately 30 feet of water and determined he had been under water for approximately 40 minutes.

Firefighters and King County Medic 1 administered CPR, and emergency responders were able to get a heartbeat back in the patient before transporting him to a local hospital via Airlift Northwest.

The boy’s latest condition is unknown.

A 911 call at 4:38 p.m. sent firefighters from Maple Valley Fire & Life Safety to the east side of lake, where the boy had disappeared while swimming with friends at a private beach in the 25300 block of 232nd Avenue Southeast.

An off-duty Kent Police officer was on scene with his family, and after making the 911 call, dived into the lake to search for the teen. He continued to do so until firefighters arrived.

Dive teams from the Renton Fire Department and the King County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the call.
