The Rainier Youth Choirs organization continues to grow with the addition of a second section of Vocina, a choir for singers in second and third grade, this season.

The choir gathers on Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m. at Kent Elementary School, 24700 64th Ave. S.

New singers (grades 2 and up) are also being added throughout September to the choirs that rehearse Monday evenings at Cedar Heights Middle School, 19640 SE 272nd St, Covington.

RYO is under direction of an artistic staff, consisting of Leora Schwitters, Brian Hoskins, Brad Wills, Karen Martin and accompanists Lori McEwen and Mary Kaye Owens.

Its ninth season – Explore, Dream, Discover – includes four public concerts; caroling on the Argosy Christmas Ship; a performance at The Grotto in Portland,; a Choir Festival for upper elementary and middle school singers; Music in the Parks at Wild Waves; and participation in the Pacific International Choir Festival in Eugene, Ore.

Rainier Youth Choirs is a nonprofit, community-based organization with no religious affiliation for boys and girls that offers a family-friendly choral music education for singers in grades 2 and up.
