Former U.S. Sen. Slade Gorton on Friday announced his endorsement of Republican Bill Bryant for governor, joining former Gov. Dan Evans in support of the Seattle resident.
Bryant, a Port of Seattle commissioner, decided to challenge Democratic Gov. Jay Inslee in 2016.
“Bill Bryant will be a far more effective leader than an incumbent who is simply the creature of a California billionaire, constantly calling for more regulations and higher taxes,” Gorton said.
“In both his private and public positions, Bill Bryant has demonstrated the ability to pull people together to focus on pragmatic solutions.
“We desperately need new leadership in Olympia. Bill Bryant is the person who can provide that leadership. Please join me, Republicans, Democrats and Independents in electing a unifying leader, the kind of leader our state deserves.”
