Thunderbirds drop final preseason test | WHL

The Victoria Royals beat the Seattle Thunderbirds 4-1 Friday night at the ShoWare Center in a final preseason tune-up.
T-Birds, who finished the preseason with a 2-3-1-0 record, open the regular season in Vancouver against the Giants at 7:30 p.m. next Friday, Sept. 25. The T-Birds’ home opener is Saturday, Oct. 3, against the Prince George Cougars at 7:05 p.m.
Victoria went in front 1-0 at 13:11 of the first period on a shorthanded breakaway goal from Jared Dmytriw.
The Royals extended the lead 1:34 after their first goal. Vladimir Bobylev got the goal on assists from Alex Forsberg and Scott Walford.
Seattle outshot Victoria 7-6 in the first period.
Matt Phillips put the Royals in front 3-0 with 33 seconds gone in the second period. Walford and Ethan Price had the assists.
Logan Flodell replaced Taz Burman in the Seattle net midway through the second period. Burman made 10 saves on 13 shots.
Dmytriw scored a second goal in the game at 14:35 of the second to give the Royals a 4-0 lead. Tyler Soy and Dante Hannoun had the assists.
The T-Birds led in shots 18-16 after two periods by outshooting the Royals 11-10 in the second period.
Alexander True got the T-Birds on the board 45 seconds into the third period when he snapped in a puck from the left of the goal. Donovan Neuls and Jarret Tyszka had the assists.
Flodell finished with 15 saves on 16 shots.
Coleman Vollrath had 28 saves on 29 shots for the Royals.
Both teams had 29 shots on goal in the game.

T-Birds single game tickets bare available online at the T-Birds website and at the ShoWare Center box office. The box office is open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday game days at 10 a.m. and Sunday game days at noon.
