Washington Gov. Jay Inslee on Thursday directed all state and U.S. flags to be lowered to half-staff until Monday, Dec. 7 in honor of the victims in the San Bernardino, Calif., shootings that killed 14 people and injured 21.

On Wednesday, Inslee released the following statement:

“Many details about today’s massacre in San Bernardino are still unknown, but this kind of tragedy has become all too familiar. These tragedies always hit hard whether it’s a city away, two states or even half a world away. Trudi and I, along with all Washingtonians, send our thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and the San Bernardino community.”
