The Spokane Chiefs defeated the Seattle Thunderbirds 7-1 Friday night at the Veterans Memorial Arena in Spokane.
Adam Helewka had a hat trick for the Spokane (15-10-2-1). Curtis Miske, Tyson Helgesen, Nik Andersen and Jaret Anderson-Nolan also had goals for Spokane.
Ryan Gropp scored a power-play goal at 12:55 of the second period to get Seattle (16-8-2-0) on the board. Gropp snapped a wrist shot past Spokane goalie Tyson Verhelst.
Logan Flodell was pulled after the Chiefs fourth goal. He made seven saves on 11 shots and his record falls to 10-5-2-0 with the loss. Burman finished with 18 saves on 21 shots.
Spokane outshot Seattle 32-25 in the game.
Verhelst stopped 24 of 25 shots and his record is now 12-5-0-1.
Back home for Seattle Metropolitans Night
The T-Birds host the Tri-City Americans at 7:05 p.m. Saturday at the ShoWare Center on Seattle Metropolitans Night, a celebration of 100 years of hockey in Seattle. The game is expected to be a sellout.
The T-Birds will wear special Metropolitans throwback jerseys that will be auctioned off during the game. The Stanley Cup will also be at the game for fans to be able to take pictures with it.
Season tickets holders can enter the ShoWare Center at 5 p.m., one hour before normal doors open, to take pictures with the Cup. The doors will open at 6 p.m. for non-season tickets holders. The Cup will stay at least one hour past the end of the game for fans to get pictures.
The Hockey Hall of Fame will also be displaying Seattle Metropolitans historical items, including a jersey and skates from when the Metropolitans played. There will be Seattle Metropolitans merchandise for sale as well.
