The region grew by more than 86,000 people last year and two-thirds of that growth occurred within 10 cities, including Kent, according to data presented by the Puget Sound Regional Council.

The top city by total population change was Seattle, which accounted for 28 percent of the region’s population change last year. The data is part of a recent Regional Data Trends presentation focusing on how the region is growing and changing.

Kent came in at No. 8 on the top 10 fastest growing cities in total population change, going from a population of 122,900 in 2015 to 124,500, an increase of 1,600, or 1.3 percent.
