Hundreds seek work during Amazon Jobs Day

Hundreds of people lined up outside of Amazon’s Kent fulfillment center on Wednesday morning in hopes of securing a job.

The Seattle-based company hosted its first Jobs Day, which included facility tours and on-the-spot job offers for more than 1,200 part-time and full-time positions at fulfillment centers in the Puget Sound region. The event was one of several at Amazon sites throughout the country.

Applicants, varying in age and background, lined up outside a tent in the Kent center’s parking lot waiting for an interview.

The 800,000-plus square-foot facility, 21005 64th Ave. S., opened in March 2016.
