Drivers on northbound Interstate 5 near Kent faced as long as 5-mile backups Wednesday morning after a mobile crane rolled over at about 8 a.m. near Southcenter.

Crews closed all of the northbound lanes around 9:30 a.m. near Southcenter in order to upright the overturned crane. The State Patrol reopened three of the five lanes at about 10:30 a.m. At about 11 a.m., traffic remained backed up for about 2 miles from I-405 to South 200th Street.

Just after 1 p.m., all general purpose lanes were open, but the HOV lane stayed closed. Backups were as long as 5 miles early in the morning, according to the State Patrol.

The State Patrol has not yet issue a cause of the accident. There were apparently no injuries.
