A mobile home fire displaced a family of five shortly before 5 a.m. Monday, the Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority reported.

The residents were able to get out safely, but the double-wide mobile home in the 24400 block of 64 Avenue South was a total loss.

Two dogs from the home remain unaccounted for.

When firefighters arrived, it was already fully engulfed in flames.

Radiant heat damaged at least one another home and several vehicles, Puget Sound RFA said.

In addition to fighting the fire, the first on-scene crews had to deal with a neighbor’s dog, which had bit a person near the fire. Apparently, the dog was agitated by the activity. That person suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Kent Police retained the dog.

Red Cross was helping the family, and an investigator was on scene to determine the cause of the fire.
