Kentridge secures Cascade title, faces Todd Beamer for top seed to district playoffs

Kiernen Denckla scored 18 points to lead a balanced attack as Kentridge defeated Tahoma 68-53 in a tiebreaker to capture the North Puget Sound League Cascade Division title Monday night at Mount Rainier High School in Des Moines.

Naomi Hall-Schiffner scored 16 points, Martina Lam had 14 and Dayla Ballena finished with 13 for the Chargers (14-1, 19-3).

The teams split their regular-season meetings, necessitating a playoff.

Kentridge plays Todd Beamer, the NPSL Olympic champion, for the overall league title and top seed to next week’s district playoffs. Tipoff is 7 p.m. Friday at Todd Beamer High School in Federal Way.
