City of Kent closes all parks

The city of Kent closed all of its parks and recreational facilities on Monday to the public until further notice to keep people safe from the spread of COVID-19.

The closure includes parks, recreation complexes, dog parks, open spaces, playgrounds, sports courts, etc.

Closure signage will be posted, restrooms locked and access gates closed. Local law enforcement and parks staff will monitor the parks to make sure people are staying away since many parks cannot be fenced off.

Town Square Plaza, West Smith Street and Second Avenue, restrooms will stay open during regular operating hours.

The Green River and Interurban regional trails will remain open, but people must use the social distancing of 6 feet apart.
