A sampling of Kent Police incidents from July 3-12:

July 3

Attempted burglary: 4:22 a.m., there was an attempted burglary in the 20400 block of 97th Avenue South. An 11-year-old boy woke up to hearing the alarm announcing, “Kitchen slider open.” He got his dad who armed himself with a firearm. The father saw a figure in the northeast corner of the backyard towards the hedge and gate. He fired a shot at the subject. A K-9 unit track indicated the suspect ran southeast and that he likely approached several neighboring houses. At 11:13 a.m., officers were dispatched to Valley Medical Center ER in Renton regarding a male subject who had been shot in the left hand. Detectives are investigating to determine if it was the burglar.

July 5

Burglary suspect: 3:45 a.m., units were dispatched to the 500 block of Third Avenue South for reports of the homeowner holding down a burglary suspect in the backyard. The homeowner caught the subject as he tried to climb a fence and held him until police arrived. Officers transported the suspect to the King County jail.

July 11

No contact order violation: 2:42 a.m., officers arrested a subject for felony order violation and second-degree assault. The subject assaulted his girlfriend while violating a no contact order.

July 12

Stolen delivery van: 11:18 a.m., an Amazon delivery driver left her van running at Royal Firs Apartments offices, 24028 110th Place S.E. A suspect stole the van and dumped the vehicle at the Mosaic Hills Apartments, 10811 SE 239th Place. A subject was seen running westbound from that area and officers took him into custody. After the van was dumped, multiple people were seen looting the van of its packages.
