Woman dies in early morning crash in Federal Way

One woman is dead after a collision near Southwest 356th Street and Eighth Avenue Southwest in Federal Way early Thursday morning, according to police.

Around 2 a.m. Dec. 15, Federal Way officers responded to a serious two-vehicle collision. On scene, officers and fire personnel found two vehicles with significant damage, according to Cmdr. Kurt Schwan of Federal Way Police. A photo from the scene shows one vehicle flipped and came to rest upside down.

The driver and only occupant in one of the involved vehicles was a woman in her late 40s. She died at the scene, Schwan said. The driver of the other involved vehicle, a man in his mid-30s, was transported to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with serious non-life threatening injuries.

The department’s Major Accident Investigation Team is investigating. Schwan said the circumstances leading up to the incident are unclear and officials do not know at this time if intoxication was a factor in the collision.
