Little Bill and the Blue Notes, Michael Powers to play at Kent’s Evening of Jazz June 23

Little Bill and the Blue Notes and jazz guitarist Michael Powers will perform at the fourth annual Evening of Jazz & Art Event from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, June 23 at the Kent Senior Activity Center, 600 E. Smith St.

Little Bill, a blues-jazz vocalist and bassist, plays from 5:15-6:15 p.m. at the outdoor stage. Powers plays from 7-8 p.m. at the free event hosted by the senior center and the Kent Arts Commission.

A special commemoration will be from 6:15-7 p.m. when a brief DVD highlighting the Kent Senior Activity Center building’s 25th Anniversary will be shown in a continuous loop on the indoor large screen.

Guests may enjoy boxed desserts compliments of Stafford Suites (while supplies last) and share a toast in the special “Mocktail Garden” on the patio (donations accepted).

Jazz pianist Richard Dean plays indoors from 5-5:15 p.m. and from 6:15-7 p.m.

Limited indoor concert seating is available; guests are asked to bring blankets, lawn chairs and umbrellas for outdoor seating.

Doors open at 5 p.m. when boxed dinners, compliments of Stafford Suites, will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. The Kent Valley Artists’ exhibition and demonstration begins at 5 p.m. and is open for the duration of the event.

The event is offered free of charge because of a grant from the Kent Arts Commission and generous co-sponsorships from Stafford Suites, Chateau @ Valley Center, SHAG Housing, Talbot Rehab and The Weatherly Inn.
