South winds of 20 to 35 mph with gusts possibly near 50 mph could hit Kent on Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service issued a wind advisory on Thursday morning for much of the Puget Sound area. A wind advisory means sustained winds of 30 to 39 mph are likely with gusts of 45 to 57 mph.

The strong winds could topple trees, down power lines and damage property. The wind advisory is in effect until about 6 p.m. Thursday.
