Human service providers invited to apply for grant funding from local cities

Human service providers, whose specialty it is to serve under-represented populations, can apply for grant funding from the cities of Kent, Federal Way and Tukwila.
Collectively, the cities have made available, on a competitive basis, $50,000 for organizations to address needs identified by the cities’ human services boards or commissions.
If an organization is awarded funds, the total will be matched by a grant from Seattle Foundation. With the match, grants will range from approximately $4,000 to $10,000.
Organizations eligible for this funding must:
• Have a budget of $200,000 or less.
• Not have received funding from Federal Way, Kent or Tukwila between 2013-2016.
• Specialize in serving under-represented and/or under-resourced populations including racially, ethnically and disadvantaged residents, refugees, immigrants, English language learners, or those who are LGBTQ.
• Have a board of directors and staff that represents the population served.
• Demonstrate that the service or assistance is being provided in, or to a significant number of people living in one of the participating jurisdictions.
• Address a human services need identified by the funding jurisdiction or an emerging need recognized by the jurisdiction’s human services board or commission.
Applications are available on each city’s website. A technical assistance meeting is scheduled Oct. 18 from 9-11:30 a.m. in the Centennial Center first floor conference rooms, 400 W. Gowe St. in Kent. Applications for funding are due at 4 p.m. on Oct. 25.
