King County Elections has issued a notice of a minor correction on the Nov. 3 general election ballot.
The correction pertains to the State Advisory Vote No. 13 and appears on all King County voters’ ballots. The printed text of the ballot measure reads, “The legislature increased business and occupation tax revenues and excluded certain software manufactures from a retail sales tax exception, without a vote of the people, costing $1,449,000,000 for government spending.”
The word “exception” is in error. The correct word in the text of this measure is “exemption.”
The wording in the state voters’ pamphlet is correct. King County Elections has discussed this error with its legal advisor and the Secretary of State’s office. Based on those discussions, and in consideration of the nature of the error, Elections has determined that it will not reissue ballots.
