Kent Station’s “Moolah for Schoolah” scholarship fundraiser ongoing all month

Throughout the month of March, Kent Station will host its annual college scholarship fundraiser for Green River College (GRC) students – Moolah for Schoolah.
Kent Station began the program in 2007 to provide scholarships to Kent graduates attending GRC. Since then, Kent Station has provided 29 scholarships totaling more than $36,000 to students who might not be able to afford college otherwise.
During the month of March, Kent Station customers can participate in the fundraiser by completing a Moolah for Schoolah postcard, available at all participating shopping center merchants. For each postcard completed, Kent Station will donate $1 to the Kent Station–Green River College Scholarship Fund.
Hermandeep Dhillon is one of the 2014 scholarship recipients.
“By awarding me the scholarship you have lightened my financial burden which allows me to focus more on the most important aspect of school: learning,” Dhillon said in a media release. “Your generosity has inspired me to help others and give back to the community. I hope one day I will be able to help students achieve their goals just as you have helped me.”
Each postcard completed will give customers the opportunity to win one of 10 prizes, including the grand prize of a $500 shopping spree to spend at the shopping center, plus gift cards ranging from $25 to $100. Customers can enter once per merchant during the month of March, giving them more than 50 chances to win. The prize winners will be selected at random drawing on April 6.
Two shopping center merchants are sponsoring Moolah for Schoolah this year. Both Coldstone Creamery and Windermere donated to be silver sponsors for the promotion, helping to offset the costs and helping to make it possible to reach the goal of donating $5,000.
“Kent Station is delighted to kick off Moolah for Schoolah again,” said Cynthia Tanis, marketing coordinator. “Our scholarships allow local high school graduates to achieve their dreams of higher education and thus giving them more opportunities to be successful members of our business community. We are always proud of our partnership with Green River College and the Green River College Foundation.”
