Seahawks’ Clowney opens up his heart to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound through holiday sponsorship

Jadeveon Clowney has a passion of giving back to kids.

The Seattle Seahawks defensive end teamed up with Big Brothers Big Sisters Puget Sound to surprise the kids with $200 gift cards for a holiday shopping spree at the Southcenter Target store in Tukwila on Tuesday.

The “Jingle-A-Thon with Jadeveon” – hosted by Target and supported by Panera Bread – provided a holiday shopping experience for 25 youth in Big Brothers Big Sisters’ mentoring programs. The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound recently announced a new partnership with The Jadeveon Clowney Help-In-Time Foundation.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters of Puget Sound is continuing its efforts to create and support 1-to-1 mentoring relationships that ignite the power and promise of youth.

Clowney, who joined the Seahawks at the start of the season, wanted to provide kids with a memorable and special holiday experience they deserve and to convey the belief that anything is possible for them. Clowney was raised by a single mother, and his father was in prison throughout his childhood. These experiences influenced Clowney’s desire to give back to kids in similar situations.

“I grew up in a single-parent home,” Clowney said. “My dad was incarcerated for seven years and it was rough for my mom growing up in a single-parent home. It’s time for me to give back to kids, I’ve been doing this for my fifth year now.”
