Fire critically injures Kent resident with burns

Puget Sound Fire and King County Medic 1 treated a severe burn victim at her Kent home Friday night.

She was treated and transported by Medic 1 to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.

The fire investigator on scene ruled the cause of the fire as accidental.

Firefighters and medics were dispatched at 7:54 p.m. to a reported burn patient in the 4600 block of South 214 Street. While responding to the call, neighbors reported seeing smoke and possible flames from the kitchen of the initial address. A second engine company was added to the call to assist.

Arriving on scene six minutes later, it was confirmed that there was no structure fire and the fire crew and medics found a single, critically injured patient in the back yard with second- and third-degree burns over a significant percentage of her body.
