565 participate in 40th Kent Christmas Rush 10K/5K run/walk

A total of 565 people participated in the Kent’s 40th Christmas Rush 5K and 10K run/walk on Saturday, Dec. 10 at Hogan Park.

There were 421 people in the 5K and 144 in the 10K, according to results on runsignup.com. Many participants dressed for the holiday.

Daniel Castelluccio, 17, a Tahoma High School senior from Maple Valley, won the 10K with a clock time of 36 minutes, 1 second.

August Byzinker, 42, of Kent, took second in 37:48.0. The rest of the top five included Michael Lynes, 56, of Tacoma, in third at 38:11.3; Rya Kangas, 28, of Seattle, in fourth at 38:12.3; and Elijah Morrow, 17, of Renton, in fifth at 38:27.1.

Mollee Schultz, 31, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, took sixth overall and finished first among females in 39:22.3. She just beat out Daryl Marie Phill, 27, of Tacoma, who finished seventh in 39:56.5.

Rounding out the top 10 were Troy Haeseler, 42, of Renton, in 40:09.4; Emily Boerger, 28, of Albany, New York in 40:26.1; and Evan Hanemann, 17, of Kent, in 40:38.8.

Owen Ladinig, 20, of Tacoma, won the 5K in 16:15.7.
